Speech technology takes its place in medical correspondence
G2 SPEECH ANNOUNCES FIRST HOSPITAL ORDERS IN CANADA!

Two new orders in Canadian medical market through dealer F-J Communications.

G2 Speech, market leader in the Benelux in the integration of speech technology, has taken its first steps in Canada in the medical field. The Centre Hospitalier Universitaire de Sherbrooke (CHUS) in Sherbrooke and the Legardeur hospital in Québec, have both placed an order for the installation of ProSpeech®.

The Radiology departments in both hospitals are to work with G2 Speech's ProSpeech® . The technical support for the system will be provided by G2 Speech partner F-J Communications of Montréal in Canada. ProSpeech® will be integrated in the existing Lanier Radiology Information System and the Fuji Picture Archive Communication System (PACS). The integration will be done by G2 Speech.

The contract with the hospitals came about via F-J Communications. Both hospitals were on the look out for a sound partner for their Radiology department. The aim was to optimise the working methods in each department by using digital dictation and speech recognition. This is an efficient method of working which allows the workload to be managed better. Using ProSpeech® enables the departments to achieve their aim. In total, 81 licences have been sold for ProSpeech.

F-J Communications has been the official partner of G2 Speech in Canada for several months. In Canada G2 Speech and its dealer are primarily targeting the medical market. If you would like more information about F-J Communications then visit www.f-jcommunications.com.

G2 Speech proving its case with LegalSpeech

Leading Legal Practices already working with LegalSpeech.

G2 Speech UK Ltd., a market leader in the integration of Speech Technology, has announced four new orders. The solicitors' offices of Shillings, Howrey Simon Arnold & White, Naunton Lynch Hall and Christopher Rodgers & Associates, are all working with LegalSpeech.

The four offices, which are ranked among the leading solicitors' offices in the UK, started working fully with LegalSpeech in November. Shillings and Howrey Simon Arnold & White are known from their participation in the list of the 500 largest legal practices in Great Britain

Each of the offices first became acquainted with LegalSpeech after running a pilot project. Staff at each of these offices has now been working for some time with digital dictation and processing the dictation using LegalSpeech. Following the successful completion of the various pilot projects, each of the solicitors' offices elected independently to convert the initial agreement into a five-year contract.

For G2 Speech this is proof that the market in Great Britain is giving increasing priority to a total system for workflow management, using digital dictation or speech recognition. LegalSpeech matches these demands. The company foresees increasing growth in this market. The co-operation between the solicitors' offices and G2 Speech came about via the dealer Dictation Direct.

October 2003

Rory McShane deploys digital dictation

Rory McShane and Company has deployed the G2 Speech digital dictation and speech recognition system from BlueChip Technologies and have already achieved significant savings.

After an initial pilot deployment, in March 2003 G2 Speech was rolled out to all 17 staff in the Newry office of the practice as the platform for document production, replacing the existing tape system. The combined use of digital dictation and speech recognition technology has demonstrably reduced the time and cost of document production.

"The system benefits are clear and within 6 months of deployment we have already improved our fee earner / secretary ratio, meaning that G2 Speech has delivered the benefits anticipated" commented Founding Partner, Rory McShane.

Digital dictation, using the existing office computer network to transfer dictations from author to support staff, is achieving rapid acceptance with the legal profession as a better platform than analogue tapes. Replacing the existing analogue tape system with digital dictation means that:

- Work is immediately available to support staff without delay;
- Dictations which are urgent are automatically prioritised;
- Problems such as lost/broken tapes are completely avoided; and
- Work is automatically spread across the support staff group avoiding bottlenecks.

McShane and Company also uses speech recognition technology in two ways.

Firstly BlueChip integrated speech recognition to the existing Amicus Attorney case management software in use at McShanes, enabling case notes etc to be dictated directly into Amicus without typing, giving the fee earner a time saving.

Secondly while a dictation is being transferred by the office computer network to the support staff, the server based speech recognition technology coverts the document into text which only requires final editing by the support staff. The high accuracy rates consistently achieved means that this substantially reduces the time taken to complete a document.

By harnessing the benefits of speech recognition technology in this way the solicitor creates a document in the same way as before, a feature which is unique to the G2 Speech system.

Rory McShane, Founding Partner concluded, "We believe that a law practice is a business like any other commercial enterprise and to remain successful, cannot be allowed to become static, either in the service it provides or in the manner in which it conducts its business. G2 Speech has helped us progress in that way."

TOREX-HISCOM AND G2 SPEECH ANNOUNCE COOPERATION

Leiden/Nuenen, 14th. October 2003 - TOREX-HISCOM and G2 Speech have signed a cooperative agreement. The cooperation concerns the integration of the MIRADOR. care work station made by TOREX-HISCOM and the MediSpeech® speech technology system of G2 Speech.

More time for the patient
The drawing up and dealing with medical correspondence among medical staff can be greatly simplified by integrating the information systems used. Patient data are automatically relayed from MIRADOR® and medical details such as the diagnosis, for example, are dictated directly by the physician into MediSpeech®. The application of speech technology combined with workflow management offers both the specialist as well as the medical administrative personnel numerous benefits such as: once-only input of data, error reduction and time saving. Bert Groeneveld, general manager of G2 Speech: “Suppose that a member of the medical staff is going to work with MIRADOR®, then there is already an integration with MediSpeech® in place.” The ultimate goal is for the specialist to have more time for the patient and to need less time for the administrative tasks. “The supporting of medical carers is part of the core business of TOREX-HISCOM. The cooperation with G2 Speech fits in excellently with this,” says Wim Botermans, general manager of TOREX-HISCOM.

Cooperation in the past
TOREX-HISCOM and G2 Speech have already cooperated in the past, resulting in the successful operational integration between MIRADOR® and MediSpeech® in the Radiology department of several hospitals. These positive results and the good co-operation have led to a formal agreement that goes beyond the Radiology department.

About TOREX-HISCOM bv
TOREX-HISCOM is a supplier of information systems to hospitals, GPs and hospital dispensaries. With a customer base that includes 50 hospitals, including 7 out of of 8 teaching hospitals, 72 hospital dispensaries and 2100 GP practices, TOREX-HISCOM is market leader in the Netherlands.
