At G2 Speech, we’re proud to celebrate the people who have helped shape our journey and success. Among them is Esther, who has been part of our story for an incredible 26 years! We caught up with Esther to hear more about her journey and what made her time at G2 Speech so rewarding.
How it all began
Esther originally trained as a medical secretary and spent three and a half years working in a hospital before her father introduced her to Philips. She began her career at Philips Dictation Systems in the Commercial Internal Sales Department, which later became part of the Information Products Department - the same department where Bert (our CEO!) also worked.
When Bert co-founded G2 Speech 27 years ago, he brought the expertise and enthusiasm of Phillips colleagues. At the time, G2 Speech wanted a team of full-time employees, which didn’t work for Esther. But when a former colleague who made the switch to G2 Speech became pregnant, Esther stepped in as a job share - marking the start of her journey with us.
Carrying the knowledge forward
The transition from Phillips to G2 Speech was a natural one for Esther. The analogue dictation equipment she had previously been selling at Phillips continued to be the focus at G2 Speech in the early days. Those initial experiences laid the foundation for a long and evolving career, as both the technology and our company developed over time.
Growing with G2 Speech
Over the past 26 years, Esther’s role has grown and diversified alongside G2 Speech. As her children grew older, she gradually took on more hours and additional responsibilities. What began as a position in the commercial office evolved into a true “jack-of-all-trades” role, covering a wide variety of tasks and projects across our business.
One of the projects she looks back on most fondly is the relocation to Best - a milestone that gave G2 Speech a beautiful new office and marked an exciting chapter in our company’s development. For Esther, it was a proud and memorable moment that reflected both personal and professional growth.
Evolving with the industry
Since her early days selling analogue dictation equipment, Esther has witnessed remarkable change across the industry. Over the years, the world has become increasingly digital - analogue dictation has largely disappeared, replaced by advanced speech recognition solutions that continue to improve accuracy and functionality. Today’s solutions, from ambient AI that captures and understands clinical conversations to intelligent speech tools and digital assistants that streamline documentation are are reshaping workflows and making clinicians’ work faster, easier, and more accurate.
Her favourite part about working here
For Esther, our people make all the difference. She values the variety of tasks her role offers and enjoys positive interactions with colleagues. Many of the team members she works with have been at G2 Speech for more than 10 years, creating a strong sense of continuity and camaraderie within our company.
Looking ahead
Looking ahead, Esther hopes to continue doing what she loves at G2 Speech while staying in good health. She is excited about our new products that have recently launched - like Aida and SpeechAmbient - and looks forward to future developments being well received by customers, helping G2 Speech remain a successful and thriving company.
After over a quarter of a century, Esther remains an integral part of G2 Speech’s story, embodying the dedication, adaptability and passion that continue to drive our company forward. Her journey reflects personal growth and achievement, but also the evolution of the industry itself, making her contributions invaluable to our team and ongoing success.
